Equity 4 Black Berkeley (E4BB) Case Study Report
Our Process, Our Approach, and Our Learnings
The Affordable Housing Preference Policy became effective January 1, 2024.
Were you displaced from Berkeley? You may qualify for the Affordable Housing Preference Policy. Affordable housing preferences give people who have lost or are at risk of losing housing in Berkeley priority when new units become available.
Capital Building Fund
In 2024, Healthy Black Families (HBF) will relocate to 2001 Ashby Street, Berkeley, California, a ground floor office space and location for community programming. The 1,818 square feet of commercial space will provide a stable and affordable headquarters for HBF as we continue to operate and expand in the East Bay and beyond.
WE WELCOME YOUR SUPPORT!
“Without struggle, there can be no progress.” - Frederick Douglass
Advancing social equity, justice, and healing within the Black community is crucial. HBF’s mission to provide people with knowledge, skills, and strategies to make social systems and policies more equitable for Black people and communities is key to moving forward social justice. Our capital campaign offers everyone the opportunity to contribute to social justice and human equity.
The relocation of HBF at the corner of Ashby and Adeline will strategically anchor the interests of the Black community in historically Black South Berkeley. With your contribution to our capital campaign, HBF will build out the interior of the space to include a conference room, green space, and children’s area. This infrastructure will allow us to retain, nourish, expand, and cultivate the culture of Black Berkeley in this community. We invite you to help make this expansion a reality as we position HBF for the next decade.
All gifts of $1,000 or more will be listed on a plaque in our office lobby and gifts of $2,500 or more may be designated to specific aspects of the project.
